Goya Awards 2019: this was the gala

Table of contents:

The 33rd edition of the Goya Awards has been held for the first time in Seville. A night dedicated to consecrating Spanish cinema and in which there have been moments of everything: laughter, tears, protests and much, much emotion.

Silvia Abril and Andreu Buenafuente have been in charge of presenting the ceremony, which was not an easy task after the barrage of criticism received by last year's presenters, Joaquín Reyes and Ernesto Sevilla. Although the gala has had ups and downs, and in some moments we have been bored, at least Andreu, Silvia and all those who have taken the stage, have prevented us from falling asleep on the keyboard. It's something…

One thing that has not delighted about the gala has been the musical moments among which we highlight 'I stay with you' that Rosalía has sung and the eclectic mix of Amaia, Rozalén, Judit Neddermann and Manu Guix on piano. Very top!

As always, one of the claims of seeing the gala, which has been followed on Spanish Television, has been not to miss a single detail of the red carpet outfits. Spanish celebrities have wasted style - for better and for worse.

The NI UNA MÁS initiative deserves a special mention. The Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media (CIMA) has wanted to denounce "the reality of women murdered by sexist violence" and it seems to us the most successful.

It was an interesting gala with feminist demands and powerful feminist messages in favor of conciliation or equal pay . In addition, although the number of women nominated in some category was not to shoot rockets, many of them have won the award. Goodness!

MOMENTAZO: Eva Llorach took the stage to collect her award and encouraged the rest of the nominated women to stand up to share their Goya with them. She has marked a "Frances McDormand" as she has defined it herself, and has made a plea in favor of the hiring of women in the cinema - regardless of age.

There have been several emotional moments at the gala but we are left with the delivery of the Goya of Honor to Francisco Ibáñez Serrador and the award for best new actor, Jesús Vidal, with a speech with which we take off our hats.

And so far the 33rd edition of the Goya Awards, what did you think? Do you agree with the winners? Good night!
