Easy Hairstyle: How to Do a Quick Dutch Braid

The last time I had long hair, I think I was 9 years old , and it hasn't rained since! I am not much into experimenting with hair, nor with very risky cuts, dyes or hairstyles and the most that I have come has been to wear babylight highlights that are slightly lighter than my dark brown color and a clavicut haircut.

And it's not that I don't like very weathered manes, chop or dyes like smokey violet or golden rose, I just admit that I don't like to get out of my comfort zone. However, a couple of years ago I decided that I wanted long hair, that I was going to say goodbye to the bob that has always been with me and thus be able to experiment with updos and braids.

In this time, I have tried the root braid, the boxer braids, the bubble ponytail and for a few months I have been obsessed with the Dutch braid , that type of braid that seems to be glued to the head, like superimposed and has a lot of more volume than the classic braid, do you see how beautiful it is?

It is a French braid but in reverse, that is, instead of laying the strands on top of each other while we braid them, they are placed underneath to get that voluminous look.

What if it is difficult to do it? Friend, well I have to tell you that it is simpler than I thought. Do you dare to do it with me?

The Dutch braid, step by step

Before you get down to work, my first recommendation is that you don't do it with freshly washed hair . In my case, I have very fine hair and being so clean, sometimes I felt that the strands were slipping from my hands.

My advice: wash your hair the day before to give your hair more texture when you go to work with it and if you need an extra dose of volume, give it a few touches of dry shampoo at the root or a volumizing spray.

Here is the step by step to make the Dutch braid yourself:

  1. Brush the hair well, make sure there are no knots, and comb it back.
  2. Divide the hair into three parts from the roots.
  3. Take the strand on the right and place it below the strand in the center and with the strand on the left do the same, also place it under the strand in the center.
  4. Continue braiding and every time you need to, take a lock of hair until you reach the nape of the neck. From there, everything is simpler because you do not have to take more hair and you only have to dedicate yourself to braiding.
  5. Collect the hair with a rubber band and if you want, finish with a bow for a sophisticated touch.
