Unlike what happens with other essential oils, we are all much more familiar with rosemary. We know perfectly which plant it is extracted from (it is possible that if you have a garden or terrace you have one in your own home) and it is even possible that we use it to cook from time to time. Perhaps for this reason, its use is much more common and traditional than that of other oils, but that does not mean that we know all its properties. Attentive, because we will still surprise you when you know for everything that you can use this little treasure of nature.
What are the properties of rosemary essential oil?
As you can imagine, the essential oil of rosemary is extracted from the plant of the same name, specifically distilling its flowers and leaves. It has many uses, among which we highlight:
- It is antibacterial and antiseptic
- Used to treat acne problems
- Can help eliminate dandruff problems
- Reduces joint pain, especially in the back
- Thanks to its aroma, we can use it to alleviate the symptoms of colds and flu by making vapors with it.
- It is a good ally to fight against recurring headaches
How is rosemary essential oil used?
Rosemary essential oil can be applied directly to the skin, just a few drops on a cotton ball are enough to treat acne pimples. It can also be added to a regular dandruff shampoo or mixed with another body oil and massaged into painful areas of the body. In the case of headaches, applied in a cold compress and to treat colds and respiratory problems in an essences diffuser or by putting a few drops in very hot water to make steam with it. In aromatherapy it is an oil that is used for several purposes: as a relaxant or to increase self-confidence.
Do you have any contraindications?
Rosemary essential oil is fairly safe, but you should take certain precautions. When applying it directly to the skin, it is advisable to do an allergy test first and if we are going to use it in large areas (such as the back) it is advisable to mix it with another neutral oil. It should not be used on children or pregnant women and neither in people with epilepsy or hypertension . Nor should it be ingested under any circumstances.
