Braided buns: turn a classic hairstyle into a trendy one

Table of contents:

Learning to make braids is the first of hairstyles. It is one of the most basic ways to brighten up any look and give it a contemporary air and is that once you master the different techniques: French, Dutch, herringbone … you can turn your most classic hairstyles into something worthy of the best stylists.

In this case, I suggest that you use them to give a new dimension to the bows, that basic updo that we all resort to so often (especially now that we want to be comfortable to be at home all day). Take note of our best ideas and get inspired for your new creation.

Low braided bun

Are you not very good at braids? Start with this super easy updo. You just have to gather your hair in a low ponytail, braid it and twist it on the elastic to make your bun. Secure with bobby pins or a rubber band if you prefer and that's it.

Bow with braided turn

Another super simple option but that looks great is this one. It is the classic little bow that is formed when we do not finish pulling the hair on the last turn of the elastic when making a ponytail . Best of all, that braid is added on top by braiding the excess hair and surrounding the elastic.

Low bun with side braid

If you want to get started with root braids this is a good hairstyle to try. You just have to braid a strand on one side, or if you prefer, of both and bring them back making sure they are visible when you form your low bun.

The Dutch braids are my favorites and it is that with them you get a beautiful volume. They are done the same as root braids but reversing the order of braiding. Then you have to cut the ends so that it takes that beautiful shape and forms your side bow.

Dutch braid expert? Continue yours above the bun and give the crown area a little volume to achieve this beautiful version.

If you already know how to do a Dutch braid, you can do two on one side. Thin out the ends of one and leave the other as is and you will have an ideal and super romantic bun hairstyle.

High bun with braid at the nape

To make this beautiful bun something you have to put upside down. It is the easiest way to do that braid at the nape of the neck and then collect all the hair in a hairstyle worthy of the red carpet.

This hairstyle is one of my favorites and it looks like it is going to be the one that I wear to one of the weddings I have this year (if they are in the end in 2020). You have to separate the front strands and make a Dutch braid at the back of the head and finish it in a little bun under something tousled. To finish, insert the ends of the strands that you left loose behind the braid to give it a more undone look.

Once you have mastered Dutch braids with large amounts of hair, you can delve into the world of mini braids. These, on the sides of the upper part of the head, are used to decorate a half up bun, one of the hairstyles that have been worn the most in recent seasons.

When you are already an expert with them, you can play to draw shapes in your head to get hairstyles as current as this one.

Or this other one, which instead of wearing the braids on the top of the head, wears them on both sides.

Triple braid buns

This other hairstyle is for students who are seasoned in the braid world but it is worth practicing in front of the mirror to achieve such an original result. You have to start with a root braid in the center of the head and loosen the ends to the sides to later incorporate them into the braids that go on the sides. Each side will end in low bows that will give you a touch of the most casual.

Low bun with herringbone braid

Do not be intimidated by a herringbone braid and less by one like this, which starts with a root braid, because they are not that difficult. You just have to divide the strand you want to braid in two and cross finite strands on each side in the center, always taking them from the outside in.
