The brownie is a compact and dense type of brownie (it does not have yeast and therefore does not rise). Although it is originally from the United States, it has become popular all over the world and is highly appreciated because, in addition to being delicious, it is one of the easiest desserts to make. And if not, check it out for yourself.

Ingredients

  • For 6 people: 100 g of dark chocolate in bars (minimum 70% cocoa) - 125 g of sugar - 80 g of butter - 4 eggs - 50 g of flour - 125 g of nuts.

How to do it step by step

  1. Leave the butter at room temperature for a while, until it becomes soft.
  2. Chop the chocolate, put it in a bowl inside another with boiling water and heat it in a water bath until it melts.
  3. Add the butter and sugar, and stir until fully incorporated.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, without adding another until the previous one is fully integrated.
  5. Sift the flour over the previous preparation and, with the help of a spatula, stir until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough.
  6. Add half of the walnuts and mix again.
  7. With a double sheet of parchment paper, line a rectangular, but wide mold (ideally, it should be about 20x18 cm or almost square).
  8. Pour the previous preparation and level it until it is evenly distributed.
  9. Distribute the remaining walnuts on top, decoratively.
  10. Place the brownie in the oven preheated to 180 °, in the middle, and cook for about 20 minutes.
  11. Remove it, put it on a wire rack and let it cool before unmolding it.

Tricks to customize it

  • At your point. The classic brownie is dry on the outside and slightly moist on the inside; so it is important that you do not overcook it. Depending on the oven, you will have to cook it more or less if you want it like this or drier.
  • Other toppings. Instead of nuts, you can put other nuts or dried fruits: pistachios, almonds, raisins, blueberries, chopped dried apricots …
  • Alternatives to white sugar. You can also make it with brown sugar, panela or natural fructose instead. And if you want one without any sugar, don't miss the raw cocoa brownie with walnuts and hazelnuts in our desserts with pure and sugar-free cocoa.
