Surf waves: this heatless styling technique has helped me achieve them

Anonim

Above all, I adore having volume in my hair , specifically at the roots. And I think that is precisely what I miss the most when I just had the keratin treatment to smooth it , so from time to time I do a hairstyle with waves to recover that volume that I like so much. However, I don't know about you, but my skill with hair straighteners is practically nil –although thanks to some tutorials I have gotten to get more or less decent waves–, so I had to figure out how to have surf waves. The good thing about so much trial and error is that I have found the technique of combing without heat to achieve perfect surf waves and yes, I am going to share it with you.

I recognize that Nadine's great hair from When Out of Class (Aka, Olivia Molina), Gisele Bündchen and Blake Lively have created great expectations for me throughout my life , but the bottom line was to see how María Pombo achieved a natural surf effect because he did not brush his hair . I tried and any resemblance to reality was a mere coincidence, but still I kept investigating with two very clear ideas:

  1. I didn't want my hair to suffer because I punish it a lot with the balayage highlights and the babylights that I wear and the keratin.
  2. I was not willing to spend three hours in front of the mirror . I am the type of person who does not want to waste a single minute of her life and less if it is for the hair.

The first thing I did was change the shampoo and I looked for one that would give me volume because my hair is very fine (hence also that the waves with irons did not last long and the punishment of my hair is even greater). I went to Douglas and bought Herbal Essence White Grapefruit and Mosaic Mint Volumizing Shampoo , which in addition to smelling great and leaving my hair just the way I like it, is made with natural ingredients and is silicone-free. It cost me € 4.27.

And afterwards, to hydrate my hair, I use the Elvive rapid reviver dream long instant mask from L'Oréal Paris. I apply it and rinse it - no need to let it act, a few seconds is enough and leaves hair shiny and very soft. I usually buy it on Amazon and it costs € 3.99.

Afterwards, as I saw in Tar Mar's IGTV tutorial, I blow the moisture out of my hair with the blow dryer , although I might not and hope it air-dry, but this way, by drying it upside down, I get more volume. I have tried doing it without a dryer and I also like the result. Next, and as the influencer does, I divide the hair into two sections and make a kind of braid, but with two sections with two fairly thick strands that I pick up with a rubber band at the end. Then I repeat this whole process with the other part of the hair. I wear this 'hairstyle' all night while I sleep or, if I do it during the day, I don't take it off until I go out of the house.

When I remove the rubber bands, my hair is left with those perfect and natural surf waves that I love so much. There are times, because it happens to all of us, that hair does not have as much volume, so I take the opportunity to apply Batiste's dry shampoo, which I buy at Primark for € 5.60, at the root to texturize. There are those who also use a spray with salt, but personally I do not feel that the touch, after applying it, is very pleasant.
