PortAventura makes your dreams come true

Facing a serious illness is always hard, but even more so if the sufferers are children. For this reason, the PortAventura Foundation has launched a new solidarity project to help children cope with the healing process as well as possible and is carrying out a beautiful initiative to offer a unique and completely free experience in its park, PortAventura World, to boys, girls and young people suffering from serious illnesses and their families.

PortAventura Dreams is a solidarity program that will offer a free stay of six days to 200 families throughout 2020 in the famous theme park. For this, it has just inaugurated a village with 6 homes of 135m 2 in which children and their families can already stay since October 22. It is envisaged that in the future this program could be expanded to accommodate smaller ones. The objective is that during the convalescence from certain serious diseases , these children and their families find a pleasant space in which to be together and enjoy the park itself and also exclusive activities that will take place within the village itself.

In this initiative, in addition to the PortAventura Foundation, another series of top-level collaborators are involved, among which the most important reference maternal and child hospitals throughout the country such as the Niño Jesús University Children's Hospital in Madrid, the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital and the Vall d'Hebron Hospital or the Red Cross , as well as other private foundations and entities.

It is more than proven that experiences of this nature have great benefit for patients, especially children, from a therapeutic point of view but above all psychological. And it is that if it is already hard for anyone to be sick, in the case of children, it becomes even more difficult . This is why spending time away from the hospital environment becomes so important. However, this project will also serve to measure these benefits from a scientific point of view and carry out a detailed study of how this type of recreational-therapeutic activities influence patients.

“The arrival of PortAventura Dreams allows us to continue generating real value for society. We are convinced that the project will have a very positive effect on the lives of many families ”, commented Ramón Marsal, President of the PortAventura Foundation. Since 2011, the Port-Aventura Foundation has already been participating in solidarity projects focused on children and adolescents at risk of exclusion, but this new initiative means going one step further.
