Because scallops are one of the tastiest and most exquisite mollusks of the shellfish family, and their shells are one of the most colorful elements to present a dish.

In addition, as they only require a simple ham and vegetables stir-fry, and a quick gratin, anyone can make them, without having to be a masterchef. Do you dare to try?

How to do it step by step

  1. Prepare the accompaniment. First, peel the onion and chop it finely. Then chop the ham too. And wash the tomatoes, cut them in half and grate them.
  2. Cook the scallops. First of all, open the scallops. Remove the meat, on the one hand, and the coral (the orange part that surrounds it), on the other. Heat a skillet with 1 tablespoon of oil and grill the scallop meat for about 1 minute on each side. Finally, remove and reserve.
  3. Make the sauce. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan where you cooked the scallops. Then, add the chopped onion and sauté it over medium heat for about 4 minutes, until it starts to brown. Add the ham and sauté for half a minute. Now add the grated tomato, season and fry the whole for about 7 minutes. You only need to add the coral from the scallops, half a teaspoon of washed and chopped parsley, fry it all for 2 more minutes, and turn off the heat.
  4. Bake and serve. Preheat the oven to 220º. On a baking sheet, arrange 4 scallop shells. In each one, pour 2 tablespoons of sofrito and the meat of 3 scallops on top. Finally, sprinkle them with breadcrumbs, grill them for about 10 minutes and serve them hot.
