Shatush highlights: how you can do them yourself at home

  • Divide the hair into five sections: two on the sides and three in the center.
  • Keep in mind that shatush highlights are done on combed hair (this way only part of the hair is dyed, thus achieving a most natural blurred effect). Therefore, you should comb each strand of each section with rapid movements of the comb backwards.
  • Next, mix the bleach with hydrogen peroxide (it is very important that you choose the product with the number of volumes that suits your hair type) with half of the dye you have chosen.
  • Take the first strand and start applying the mixture horizontally, from the bottom up. Follow the same procedure for the rest of the strands.
  • Depending on the product you have chosen, you will have to wait between 15 and 45 minutes for the dye to work. How do you know? Read carefully the instructions of the hair dyes used in the corresponding containers.
  • Rinse the hair with plenty of water to remove the remains of the product.
  • Mix the remaining dye with hydrogen peroxide (of course, with less volumes) and add a little purple shampoo to remove the golden and yellow tones. Apply the mixture to the bleached sections and wait about five minutes, then rinse the hair once more. To deeply hydrate your hair, opt for a mask and … show off your shatush highlights!
