Melon makis with ham, an alternative to traditional sushi

Table of contents:

Anonim

Ingredients:
400 g of cooked rice for sushi (see step by step)
4 slices of Iberian ham
1 slice of melon
4 lettuce leaves

If sushi draws your attention, but, at the same time, it pulls you back to carry raw fish, seaweed … you can jump without fear for these melon and ham maki.

Instead of seaweed and raw fish, we have put Iberian ham, melon and lettuce. In other words, a native version of this traditional Japanese dish based on rolled rice, with an exquisite look, easy to make and within reach of any pocket.

How to make melon makis with ham step by step

  1. Make the sushi rice. To do it as we explained in our step by step, you have to clean it, cook it, add rice vinegar, and let it cool.
  2. Prepare the "filling". On the one hand, cut the pulp of the melon slice into sticks. And on the other, wash and dry the lettuce leaves.
  3. Place all the ingredients. Line a mat with plastic wrap. Top with 2 slices of slightly knurled Iberian ham. Cover with a layer of sushi rice. Add a couple of lettuce leaves, also ridged, and on top, some melon sticks.
  4. Perform the makis. With the help of the mat, go rolling, tightening well each time you turn and removing the film at the same time as the mat. Repeat the operation and make another roll. And finally, cut them into slices of about 2 cm after leaving them to rest for a couple of hours in the refrigerator.

Clara trick

To cut them easily …

Leave the rolls in the fridge so that they harden and you can split them better. Do this with a sharp, damp knife.
