C&A is one of those brands that we usually turn to for basics and everyday clothes (their cotton is the best there is) but can you imagine what their products were like 100 years ago? If your curiosity has piqued you as much as we are, you cannot miss the virtual exhibition they have prepared because it will give you a much more accurate vision of what fashion was like in the "happy 20s" and what it was like to enter a brand store for back then.

The fashion of the 20s from the hand of C&A

The 1920s were a before and after in the world of fashion. At that time we freed ourselves from corsets, we began to show our legs and arms without causing a scandal, and short hair was no longer the exclusive domain of men. Flappers were the queens of the dance floors of Europe and the United States and their beaded dresses moved to the rhythm of the music with more freedom than they had previously dreamed of.

It was a magical time when the world was at peace and art and fashion flourished everywhere. And yes, oddly enough, that store that you visit every so often, where you find beautiful and quality garments at a very good price, played an important role. Germany and especially Berlin were the center of the art world at that time and C&A was one of the brands that dressed women of the time with their elegant straight and short dresses, their loose coats and their impeccable hats.

It would be a shame if all those wonderful designs had fallen into oblivion but it is not the case. Now we can enjoy them thanks to a virtual exhibition that the Draiflessen museum has prepared in which they take a tour of the advertising posters of C&A in the 1920s and which also include press articles that reflect the trends of the moment. We have already seen some and the truth is that they have surprised us a lot.

These are, for the most part, illustrations of dresses and costumes of the time represented in great detail and with which one can get a fairly accurate idea of how the women of that time were and dressed. Fashion Imagery. The 1920s in C&A s , available in English until October 25, collects 2,500 advertisements from the beginning of the century and is completely free. You can see it on the museum's website.
