From not eating anything green to going from 5 a day
From not eating anything green to going from 5 a day
My mother can't believe the amount of vegetables that I eat today, when I was little when I closed my mouth to everything that was "green" and left vegetables of other colors on one side of the plate. Bored with my complaints, she left me to eat at school and not even there they straightened me out … Now I get almost a 10 on the test on whether my diet is healthy. How have I changed so much? First, because through my work in Clara I have become aware of how important it is. And then, because I have become fond of cooking and I have found a lot of utensils that make my life very easy! And this is what I want to share with you.
Microwave steaming case
Microwave steaming case
I use it so much that I have two (and I won't even tell you the ones I have given: to my mother, friends …). I can't give my children boiled potatoes anymore. If they are not steamed, they do not taste the same. But it is that the vegetables are al dente and it is done in such a short time and it is cleaned so easily that it has me in love.

A mixer for smoothies
A mixer for smoothies
In winter I don't feel like it so much, but in summer, I use it practically every day. I can mash fruit and vegetables with yogurt and oatmeal and hang out in the sun all morning on the beach without feeling hungry. Or if it's really hot, I crush it with ice and sometimes it's the only thing that gets me in the morning. Here I leave you ideas of shakes with which you will look (even) more beautiful and healthy.

To make vegetable spaghetti
To make vegetable spaghetti
It may seem like a shit, but when you get used to doing them, you eat the vegetables in a different way. Sometimes I mix zucchini, carrot, pumpkin or Japanese turnip spaghetti with whole grain spaghetti, but other times not even that, with the vegetables alone I am more than happy. A stir fry or a light sauce and licking my fingers. Do you want a recipe? Try these Zucchini Noodles with Red Pesto.

Recyclable silicone bags for freezing
Recyclable silicone bags for freezing
I don't know about you, but I always lack freezer space. And the truth is that these little bags solve a lot for me, because I can better optimize the drawers and leave things ready-made, because cooking every day is also exhausting. And also shot of processed, of the good ones huh. Are you not sure? Here we have the ultimate list of healthy processed foods and bad ultra-processed foods, so there is no question.
Bision bags, € 21
To make homemade sprouts
To make homemade sprouts
They are made on their own, you just have to soak them and see how they grow. I used to buy them, but I always think that the boxes are very big and end up spoiling. Also, I don't feel like eating the same sprouts all week. I prefer to make them myself in less quantity and vary my salads or cream toppings. And on top of that they are much more nutritious.
Gefu seed germinator, € 27.59
Ceramic knives
Ceramic knives
Call me pejiguera, but cutting with ceramic oxidizes less fruits and vegetables and less vitamins are lost. So I switched to knives made of this material and I don't miss the others. They go just as well and if they have this healthy plus, why not use them.

Fruit and vegetable dehydrator
Fruit and vegetable dehydrator
I know, it is a maximum whim, but I promise you that you get a lot out of it. I am lucky to live near a friend who is as much of a kitchen "toy" as I am and we buy it half. Once a week I dehydrate different fruits, sometimes mushrooms or some vegetables (the kale chips are spectacular). And my children eat the fruit almost without feeling. Much more varied than what you find in the store and without additives (because I don't know if you know that some fruits are dehydrated with sulfite baths and that sugar is sometimes added …).
Hopekings Dehydrator, € 56.99
Mandolin for cutting vegetables
Mandolin for cutting vegetables
It makes your life really easy because you save a lot of time and the cut is perfect, so the food also enters your eyes, something that is also very important when we talk about vegetables and there are diners who are refractory to it at home. If you get used to it, you won't want to cut with anything else. Of course, go to the next image and I will tell you my secret so as not to be afraid of it …
Chef's Inspirations Vegetable Cutting Mandolin, € 29.97
Cut resistant gloves
Cut resistant gloves
Yes, I no longer have plasters on my fingers. I am one of the freaks and at the time I thought that I would never use the mandolin if it were not in the emergency room of a hospital. Come on, I am one of those who has become soaked in the issue of how to act in an emergency … But in addition to seeing that they are safer than I feared, these gloves have given me the security that I did not have (and they have also saved my fingers when grating cheese…).
Anti-cut gloves by Click & Achat Boutique, € 9.95
A kettle (yes, you need it)
A kettle (yes, you need it)
Life is so much easier with a kettle in it. When I arrive tired and I don't feel like making dinner, having the water ready to boil vegetables, eggs or couscous in a plis helps me not to throw away cheeses and sausages. Trust me, it saves me from myself more than once.
Russell Hobbs Kettle, 23.99
Hamburger press
Hamburger press
A must when I make veggie burgers. And I make them both from textured soybeans, legumes, quinoa, whatever. And with the vegetables and spices that inspire me at that time. The result is very professional and I won't even tell you what I save by doing them myself. With this recipe you can try the press.
Somedays hamburger press, € 7.60.
And you will also need non-stick paper to make the hamburgers and store them without them sticking to each other.
An Inspiring Book: The Vegetarian Gourmet
An Inspiring Book: The Vegetarian Gourmet
Having a small healthy kitchen library seems essential to me and among the many that I have, I am going to recommend two. One is this one from Yotam Ottolenghi, who is said to be the man who made vegetables sexy. And that he is not strictly vegetarian either. But it has surely done more to get people to eat - and enjoy eating - vegetables than many more combative ones. I have made many recipes from this book. For me it is a reference.

On my wishlist: canned pasteurizer
On my wishlist: canned pasteurizer
Yes, I want to go to the next level and be a pro of healthy cooking. So this pasteurizer has been on my wishlist for a long time. Only money slows me down (and not having convinced my friend, the one with the dehydrator, of the party we would get out of it). I believe that in a group of organic consumption, I can take advantage of what is in season and make preserves to my liking, with quality products. But since I can't quite trust the bain-marie thing … Do you realize that I need it, right? ;-)
DMS canning pasteurizer, € 109.90
On the wishlist: Cold thinking blender
On the wishlist: Cold thinking blender
I know I have the mixer for smoothies, but this blender is amazing, because being cold-pressed, not only does it extract more juice from food, but you get more fiber and vitamins are preserved longer (or so the advertising says ) But you can also make vegetable drink in it. The price is to think about it but maybe if the Magi are listening to me …
Bio Chef cold thinking blender, € 179
On my wishlist: Kit to make tofu
On my wishlist: Kit to make tofu
If it gave me life, I would love to make my own tofu. That's why I always have this going through my head. But I can't quite make up my mind, because of what they say that the best is the enemy of the good and that by wanting to do many things I end up doing little or nothing. So for the moment I am satisfied with it, the same as the bread, which I do from time to time and without a bread maker (look, something else for the wishlist).

In my wishlist: Fermentation jar
In my wishlist: Fermentation jar
Another thing that comes to mind is eating more fermented foods. I don't jump into making kefir, but I see myself making sauerkraut and pickles (when I retire, so I have hours left for everything, of course). At the moment I do not buy it, but if I see that at home we eat more and more, I think I will end up doing it, because you really recover the investment and it gives you peace of mind knowing what you eat.
