The base is one of the most important elements of a good makeup. It serves to unify the skin tone, hiding any imperfections. But choosing the one that suits you best is not an easy task. So to make your life easier - and make you look much more beautiful every day - we have created a guide with the 10 points that you must take into account to be successful. Take note.
How to choose the right makeup base
- The format. It should be easy to apply and adapt to your skin type. You have powder, compact, liquid, cream, stick or mousse foundations.
- The application. With a brush the result is very natural in the case of more liquid foundations and less product is wasted. Even so, stick with the one that is easiest to apply to you, either with your fingers (mousse or cream textures), or with the sponge for compact foundations.
- The tone. Another essential point is to choose the tone, it must be exactly the same as your skin, neither lighter nor darker. To get it right, try it on the inside of your arm, never on the back of your hand. If you want to look more brunette, turn to bronzing powders.
- Solar protection factor . In winter an SPF 20 is enough, but in summer it is better to resort to 50 . You can also choose a foundation without a protection factor and apply a sunscreen first.
- Your skin type. Choose it hypoallergenic, if you have sensitive skin; mattifying, if you have oily skin or acne problems; or anti-aging –with tensor properties–, if expression lines begin to mark or you already have some wrinkles.
- Size . Makeup bases expire in a year, so do not choose a package too you will not spend it at that time if you think big.
- Moisturizing . It is important that the bases are moisturizing to prevent the makeup from cracking and skin appearing .
- Long lasting . If you need your makeup to last for hours and hours intact , choose long-lasting bases, there are up to 24 hours.
- Coverage. Depending on the condition of your skin you will need more or less coverage. But remember that the more fluid, the better, because the skin looks more natural. In any case, it always blends very well.
- Try it in full light. It is important that you see how the foundation looks on you in natural light and that you wear it all day to see how your skin reacts when wearing it.
