Nuts have many benefits and are a great source of essential nutrients, so they are worth consuming frequently. However, the fame that they get fat makes them often relegated to a specific whim.

Is it your case? Do you just snack on a few between meals or add them to yogurt or salad? Discover 5 ways to incorporate them into firsts, seconds and desserts, and 5 recipes that prove it. This way you will take advantage of all the beneficial properties of nuts.

1. At breakfast

If you always have breakfast toast with jam or sausage, check out the cheese, arugula and walnut toast in our gallery, and you'll see how you repeat. The formula is super easy and very versatile. You just have to put a layer of the cheese that you like the most and combine it with your favorite nuts and a plus of vegetable fiber: lettuce, arugula, lamb's lettuce, olives, pickles … But if you are more sweet, in addition to cheese and nuts, add a little jam or honey.

2. In pasta sauces

The old-fashioned pesto is made with pine nuts, basil, Parmesan, and olive oil. But it is not the only way to eat nuts with pasta. In addition to red pesto (a version with dried tomatoes), there are also sauces with walnuts and blue cheese or with almonds and cream, for example. In the case of our recipe, it has asparagus and pine nuts.

3. In the breading

Instead of passing the fish, chicken or loin through flour after egg, do it for a bite of the dried fruit that you like the most. You can even chop them with Parmesan and the result will be even more surprising. This way you will give a new look to this useful recipe every day. In our proposal, we have chosen to even do without meat and fish, and we have made some chocolates of cheese and pistachio. A delicious snack with a spectacular look.

4. In stews and beans

Cooked vegetables and any stew also gain flavor with a handful of nuts. You can add, for example, some almonds when there are 5 minutes to go until the end of cooking a stew. As well as including them in chicken dishes, fish dishes, stir-fries of all kinds, or roasted in the oven, such as ours with turkey and vegetables.

5. In the dessert

Remember that not only can they substitute or mix with flour in cakes, muffins or cookies, with nuts you can also give a twist to the typical baked apple, like the one we propose in the gallery. Frankly, we have been … delicious!

6. Cashew nuts, stars of vegan cuisine

Cashews often go unnoticed among pistachios, walnuts, and almonds. But they are not secondary at all. In vegan cuisine (the one that does not use any food of animal origin, not even eggs, milk or cheese) they are the undisputed protagonists. Vegans use them, for example, to make versions of cheese without milk or to substitute for kitchen cream in many recipes. If you have problems with lactose, you can try it.
