Have you ever wondered what will happen to everything you have when you are gone? It is not something that should be left to chance or put off until when we are too old. Therefore, it is worth stopping to think about it as soon as possible and that is that our legacy can change the lives of many people . How? Doing it in solidarity and leaving our assets, or part of them, to one or more NGOs. Today we are talking about the solidarity will, from the hand of the Spanish Committee of UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Why make a solidarity will

Life takes many turns and we are here today but we do not know what will happen tomorrow. There are many people who until not long ago lived like us in their countries and, suddenly, from one day to the next, conflicts or persecutions have forced them to flee and leave their home .

Today there are 70.8 million refugees and displaced persons in the world, a figure that grows year after year. Half of them are boys and girls.

The protection and assistance of these people is and will continue to be essential in the future. For this reason, the Spanish Committee of UNHCR, created to sensitize Spanish society about this cause, makes available to us all the existing alternatives for economic collaboration, including one not so well known, the solidarity will.

Whether you already have your will made or if you have not yet done so, you are in time to make a difference and leave a mark on the world.

How does it work?

It involves the inclusion of one or more NGOs in the freely available part of the will. It is a form of donation available to everyone and with great potential to help many people. It does not affect the parties corresponding to the legitimate heirs when there are any and, in addition, NGOs are not subject to inheritance tax, so what gifts will be in full.

The joint and several inclusion in your will can be in the form of an inheritance (a percentage) or a legacy (a specific amount of money or any asset with value for sale). The procedure is very simple, inexpensive (€ 40-50) and the will can be modified at any time.

What can you get with your will?

In the case of UNHCR, for example, with € 3,300, a month of treatment against malnutrition can be provided for 100 refugee children; with € 12,000, enrollment in primary school for 300 minors; or with € 32,400, the construction of 4 health care centers.
