Not even the investiture debate has been as lively as the one we had this morning in the newsroom when we saw the photos that Steven Meisel has taken for the new Zara. It is not that we do not like the photos, they are pure art, the problem we have (at least some) is with the clothes that the photographer has portrayed. While some praise the audacity of Zara designers with patterns as peculiar as this dress, others do not quite see them practical at street level.

One of the things that most caught our attention about the new Zara collection is the number of giant-sized chains in all kinds of accessories: necklaces, earrings, belts … and perhaps it is one of the elements that least convinces us .

For a long time, trends as diverse as the one inspired by retro designs, like here, have been mixed with others that are committed to modernity and avant-garde. But Zara's bet for the Fall of 2019 has been clear. Some of the clothes remind us of Grace Kelly and Tippi Hedren in the Hitchcock movies and the truth is that they are the ones that have achieved the most consensus among us.

We knew the arty print but this one, with classic-style sculptures, has left us stunned. What we like the most, or almost the only thing, about this look is the bag, which has a totally irresistible vintage air.

That's why we almost prefer to stay with more 'normal' garments like this gray coat, which has made us all go crazy, or the red and pink slip dress. Now, we do not quite understand the lace stockings.
