The fashion of contouring also reaches eye makeup and promises to become the star trend of the summer. And there are many celebrities who put themselves in the hands of expert makeup artists capable of playing with lights and shadows to create a more perfect and intense look. We explain how you can get 10 eyes by playing with the shadows.

Basics

Basics

The key to creating the illusion of perfectly shaped eyes is combining several different shades of shadow in strategic locations.

The key to giving more depth to the look is to mark the basin well with dark shadows and leave the lighter ones for the inside of the eye.

If we want to give a more nocturnal touch to our eye makeup, we can add a little golden shadow in the tear and blend it well. It will bring a lot of light to the look.

In the case that your eyes are small, you will have to extend the dark shadow marking the contour upwards to open them more. A few touches in the eye socket will also come in handy.

For this type of technique to have the result we want, it is worth investing in tools that facilitate our task.

Although the experts recommend matte shadows for this type of technique, we see how, in evening events, those with glitter are allowed, since they provide a touch of the most glamorous.

If your eyelids are somewhat oily, using a primer for eyeshadow is essential. It will prevent makeup from moving over the eye and losing the flattering effect we have achieved.

To enlarge the look even more, you can choose to make up the water line of the lower eyelid with an eyeliner that is slightly lighter than your skin tone or even white. Of course, blend it well with your fingers so that it is not so marked.

For this, a soft pencil is ideal that you can spread with your fingers after applying it.

Marking the lashes well is another of the makeup artists' favorite techniques to open the eyes and one of the easiest to replicate. You can always use false eyelashes, but it will be enough to mark them with the curling iron and apply a good layer of mascara. Remember that by making a zigzag movement at the root when applying it they will appear larger.

Color play

The best way to achieve the perfect contouring is an eyeshadow palette that combines various skin tones.

This technique can also be used to visually "bring" or "separate" the eyes. Applying light shadows on the inner corner of the eye separates them, while if you apply them darker, it will seem that they are closer together.

Skin tones

Liquid or cream eyeshadows are ideal for this technique as they achieve a much more precise and marked result and also allow the use of iridescent tones, while powder shadows should be matt tones.

We can also make up the lower eyelid following the same contouring technique, that is, applying the dark tones on the outside of the eye and blending them into lighter shadows on the inside.

For this task, nothing like creamy pencils that allow you to blend with a touch of your fingers or a fine brush.

Medium shadows (a couple of shades darker than the skin itself) are ideal for drawing the contour of the eye in a soft smoky look that enlarges the look and makes the eyeliner dispensable.

Of course, if you apply it in a retro key, with the corner well marked up, you will turn your daily look into an ideal one for the night. And also, you will be emphasizing your look even more if possible.

And this technique is suitable for all hours of the day, because it allows you to create a makeup as natural as that of the actress and transform it in a single gesture (with more dark shadows on the base of the eyelashes) into something more glamorous.

This palette, created by tattoo artist Kat Von D, may be one of the culprits that this technique, which experts have used for decades, is so fashionable now. We love!

The eye contouring is the star of the red carpets of half the world. It is an eye makeup technique that, through a game of chiaroscuro created from various shades of shadows, seeks to perfect the shape of the gaze. It may sound like Chinese to us mortals, but professionals in the world of beauty have been practicing and perfecting this way of painting the eyes for years that now, thanks to the work and grace of the model Gigi Hadid, is more fashionable than ever. We have started to investigate and we bring you the keys of the experts so that you can enhance the natural beauty of your eyes "by contouring your gaze".

An outline for each type of eye

Depending on how your eyes are, you will need to give depth to some areas and illuminate others. And we are going to tell you which ones according to how your sockets are shown (the gap that remains between the eyeball and the brow bone). Regarding the makeup tools, you only need a shadow brush, eye shadows of three skin tones (one dark, one light and one intermediate), eyeliner and mascara. For the day, opt for matte cream shadows; and for the night, dare with iridescent tones. To all this you can also add a primer for shadows, which will keep your makeup intact for longer, a golden shadow and a pencil in a nude tone. We started!

  • Eyes with droopy lids. They are those in which the eyelids fall slightly above the eye, making the socket practically invisible. To contour them, you must first spread the light shadow on the mobile eyelid (it is enough that it is two tones lighter than your skin). Then mark the crease of the eyelid with the medium shadow (two shades darker than your skin) and trace the corner to join the two lines. Add some dark shadow just below the arch and blend. Apply the eyeliner on the lashes and put on two layers of mascara.
  • Eyes with intermediate sockets. They are those in which the fold is evident but not too marked. Start by making up the curve of the eye and the upper lash line with the darkest shadow . Apply the medium tone under the eyebrow and the light one in the tear area. Draw a rising line over the corner with your eyeliner and apply two coats of mascara.
  • Sunken eyes . The eyelid is seen in its entirety because the socket "sinks" into the eye. Curiously, they are painted the same as when the sockets are invisible, with the exception that the dark tone is applied above the arch, which is drawn with the medium tone, instead of below, so that we "raise" our gaze.

As you can see, just apply three colors and blend them well. Will you dare with eye contouring this summer?
