Ingredients:
200 g flour
4 medium eggs
200g sugar
2 apples
1 sachet of yeast
180 ml of sunflower oil
1 Greek yogurt
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract

After trying infinite combinations, we have finally found the perfect cake: with 125 kcal less per serving than the traditional cake and, on the other hand, much tastier.

How have we achieved it?

Reducing the amount of oil and replacing it with Greek yogurt, which reduces its amount of fat. Also incorporating apple to add less sugar and flour, without losing sweetness and fluffiness. A temptation for the palate, totally allowed and with 0% regrets.

How to do it step by step

  1. Prepare the whites. Separate the whites from the egg yolks. It is important that there is not even a trace of yolk in the whites. Then, beat the whites to the point of snow almost meringue with a little sugar and, when you have them, reserve them for later.
  2. Grate the apples. Peel the apples, grate them and set them aside. If you don't want them to rust, you can add a few drops of lemon.
  3. Beat the yolks. Beat the yolks together with the rest of the sugar until well mixed. Add the sunflower oil, yogurt, and vanilla, and mix well.
  4. Add the egg whites and the rest of the ingredients. Combine the yolk mixture with the whites beaten until stiff, then add the sifted flour and the yeast envelope little by little. Finally, add the apple and mix everything with the help of a spatula.
  5. Bake the cake. Pour the dough into a greased mold, and bake for about 45 minutes at 180º.

Set the baking time

The time may vary from one oven to another. So the best thing is to adjust the time to yours. To know if it is done, when the baking time of the recipe approaches, prick the cake with a knife and, if it comes out dry, it is done. If not, you still have to wait a bit.
